The Hoonigan Warthog is Master Chief’s first choice

Hoonigan, a tuner known for its collaborations with Ken Block, has shared the first video where it tests its insane off-roader named Warthog. The vehicle is being built upon a request by the publisher of the video game Halo, and resembles the car driven by its main protagonist, Master Chief.

According to Corey Hosford of the Hoonigan team, the publisher wanted the vehicle to be able to get to 100 miles per hour (161 km/h), jump a 100ft. (30-meter) gap and climb nearly any mountain – in other words, do all that its prototype from Halo Infinite can do.

To that end, the ATV received a purpose-designed chassis complete with sports-grade shocks and axles, four steerable wheels clad in 43-inch tires, and a 7.2-liter twin-turbo Ford V8 boosted to slam the dyno stand with actual 1,060 PS (1,045 hp / 780 kW).

After a series of tests featuring Mike Johnson, the King of the Hammers racing legend, Hoonigan decided to tweak the engine further, change the diff lock method and improve cooling. The exterior and cabin remain to be finalized.

The Warthog will be part of the Halo Infinite promotional campaign. The game’s release date is October 8, 2021.
