According to Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Inc, the company will be revealing its first purely electric crossover SUV with roof-mounted solar panels in January next year.
Once the $40,000 soft-roader hits the showrooms, it will have to fight against the Tesla Model Y for customers’ wallets. The model name and specs remain unannounced now, but the company promises to reveal them next month.
All we know right now is that the entire top of the SUV will be covered with solar panels to maximize power gains and reduce running costs. The roof will feature a sliding hatch.
As for the powertrains, several options will be available, all of them linked to the same 80-kWh battery sufficient for approximately 300 miles (480 kilometers) of range.
