Morand’s first hypercar to get flax fiber reinforced body and cabin

Swiss automaker Morand Cars announced the coming of its first hypercar so far only named the Hypercar at the beginning of the year, and here are the first details regarding it.

The model will utilize natural plant fiber in its bodywork and interior trim. Called Amplitex, the biocomposite material is made of flax and is said to be about as hard as carbon fiber while releasing 75% less harmful substances during production. Furthermore, it is also readily disposable, unlike conventional carbon.

Buyers of the coupe will be able to choose between an all-electric and a hybrid powertrain. The former consists of four electric motors jointly rated at 1,980 PS (1,953 hp / 1,456 kW) and has 300 kilometers (186 miles) of range. The latter centers on a 5.2-liter V10 assisted by a starter-generator and two electric motors for 1,116 PS (1,101 hp / 821 kW) total.

The production run will be limited to 73 units priced from 2,300,000 Swiss Francs each.
