A 51-year-old Saab 95 wagon with a vintage General Motors big block engine is being traded at an auction right now. The bidding is at $16,000 with a few days remaining on the clock.
In its stock guise, the car came with a choice between an inline three-cylinder engine with 840cc of displacement and a pair of V4 mills 1.5 and 1.7 liters large. The top specification maxed out at 73 PS (72 hp / 54 kW). In contrast, the example on sale flaunts a giant 8.2-liter V8 driving a two-range automatic transmission with 502 PS (495 hp / 369 kW). It also sports chrome and polished exterior accents.
The bodywork and suspension are also non-stock to help the driver cope with the added power – the original Saab clearly wasn’t designed to handle as much. There is no trunk: a fuel tank and suspension components occupy all available space behind the rear bench.
The exterior is black with chrome details, while the cabin is draped in beige and houses a steering wheel with slim polished spokes. The trim level notably includes a radio and small openable windows in the rear doors. Rounding off the mods are four-point safety harnesses on the seats.
