Never-driven 1980 Saab 96 sells for 410,000+ kr

A 42-year-old Saab 96 V4 Super with only 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) under its belt just found a new owner in Sweden. The final price was not made public, but bidding had reached 410,000 Swedish Krona shortly before the auction concluded.

The original owner of the car intended neither to drive it nor to sell, instead parking it in a garage and forgetting it existed. His successors did not share his vision, however, and put it up for sale at their earliest opportunity.

As a side note, this Saab 96 being a model year 1980 vehicle makes it one of the last of its kind in existence, because production of the model ended in January 1980.

During its late years, the Saab 96 came powered by a 1.78-liter Ford V4 mated to a four-speed manual gearbox and making 68 horsepower (50 kilowatts). It needed sixteen seconds to rev up to 100 km/h (62 mph). Saab assembled over 500,000 units in its three factories in Europe.
