Saleen S1 flaunts a potent custom turbocharged engine

The popular U.S. car atelier Saleen has demonstrated their latest medium-engine sports car S1 at the International Car Show In Los-Angeles. The two-door vehicle houses a brand-new motor specially designed by Saleen.

The car is built on aluminum chassis with carbon paneling. At its core lies a 2.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine capable of 457 horsepower with 475 Nm torque. With a weight of 1218 kilograms (2685 lbs), the sports car needs only 3.5 seconds to get going at full 100 km/h (60 mph). Its top going speed is 290 km/h (180 mph).

The initial batch of S1 Saleens will come off the conveyor belt in the U.S.A., after which a production line will launch in China. Depending on the version, the new sports car costs $100,000 and above.
