Saleen is alive, promises us ‘Big Things’

It has been a while since we last heard from Saleen, but the automaker is apparently alive and wants us to be excited and shocked at the news. Among other things, the short trailer vid says that ‘big things’ are happening, while the accompanying text promises ‘explosive growth’ and ‘exciting new products already in development.’

Apparently, the biggest news is that a new electric supercar is coming to the market. Any other vehicles remain to be announced, but many of us still remember the gas-powered Saleen S1 that the company introduced in Los Angeles in 2018 (see the gallery). Looks like the mid-engined two-seater still exists and is relevant, since it makes an appearance in the video.

Back when it debuted, the S1 had an in-house inline four-cylinder turbo under the hood rated at 457 PS (451 hp / 336 kW) and 474 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. It sprinted 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and completed a quarter-mile run in 11.3 seconds.
