Check out a Scion FR-S that borrowed a V8 from a Ferrari

YouTuber Twitch_Masterflex took an elderly Scion FR-S (otherwise known as the Toyota GT 86) and stuffed a Prancing Horse V8 under its hood.

He chose an F136 series engine that debuted 21 years ago and remains in production to this day with some modifications. Aside from Ferrari – which manufactures it – the mill made it under the hood of certain Maserati classics, as well as the Alfa Romeo 8C.

The video does not mention which modification of the engine was used for the project. Depending on the production year, the eight-cylinder block had between 4.2 and 4.7 liters of displacement, 390–605 PS (385–597 hp; 287–445 kW) of power, and 451–538 Nm (333–397 lb-ft) of torque.

A Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels. A custom exhaust system ensures this Scion is properly heard.

Envisioned as a drift car, the FR-S also has exterior, cabin and suspension mods. Watch the full video for an overview.
