Meet SCG 008, an ‘affordable’ $100k superbuggy

James Glickenhaus, founder and general manager of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, has revealed new details about his upcoming ‘wallet-friendly’ dune buggy called the SCG 008.

As it turns out, the all-terrain vehicle still lands precariously close to the supercar territory with a starting sticker of $100,000 USD. It comes with a host of optional off-road upgrades and will take part in the formidable Baja 1000 rally. Glickenhaus promised to post more photos soon.

Those interested in purchasing the vehicle are invited to make a $1,000 USD deposit right now. Technical details are still unknown, but the platform the company uses for the project is originally designed for a 2.2-liter EcoTec engine and Sadev transmission. If proven true, the SCG 008 may arrive to the market packing 147 PS (145 hp / 108 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque, which is plenty considering its low curb weight of 635 kilos (1,400 lbs).
