Car manufacturer Seat will attend the 2019 Mobile World Congress with a self-driving, all-electric design study that would double as a 5G network station. Look at the photo to get an idea of what to expect at the upcoming premiere.
The vehicle has been designed and built to promote the program called 5G Barcelona, dedicated to large-scale deployment of 5G wireless networks in that city. Spanish telecom operator Telefónica Seat takes active part in the project and will be testing the car on streets when it is ready (no further estimates provided).
In 2018, Seat introduced the all-electric eXS scooter concept that needed 3.5 hours to replenish its batteries and had a driving range of 25 kilometers (16 miles).
The Spanish car marque will release its first mass-produced EV in 2020. It will base itself upon Volkswagen’s MEB platform and source some of its base tech from the VW I.D. hatchback.
