Seat unveils the Minimó, a self-driving electric quadricycle

Car manufacturer Seat has taken the wraps off its latest all-electric vehicle, a self-driving urban car / quadricycle concept called “Minimó”. The car’s primary market is ride sharing purposes.

According to the manufacturer, the Minimó will be able to address the issues of urban transportation effectively. At only 2.5 meters (8.2 ft.) long and 1.24 meters (4.1 ft.) wide, it is two and a half times as small as a subcompact hatchback.

The Seat Minimó features asymmetrical doors that open upwards to facilitate getting in and out of the car in tight spots. As a quadricycle (i.e., four-wheel motorbike), it only has a single headlight, while its taillights approach in style to what we usually see in the aeronautical industry. Once fully charged, it can travel up to 100 kilometers (62 miles) before needing another charge.

The cabin has room for two people: the driver in front and a passenger in the back. There is also a special niche for smaller luggage.

The Seat Minimó comes equipped with an SAE Level 4 self-drive system that enables it to run without a driver as long as it remains within a specially designated self-drive vehicle area at all times.
