Seat has published an official image of its first all-electric car called el-Born. The vehicle will be present at the Geneva automobile show starting in a few days.
The company says that the Geneva example has traditional side mirrors and is still a work in progress.
The Seat el-Born borrows certain stylistic features from the Cupra Formentor performance SUV, as well as the Tesla Model 3. It sports C-pillars that are darkened to create an illusion of a hovering roof. It also has a rather sporty body kit including a rear diffuser and side skirts with winglets; however, the odds that we will be seeing these parts on the production vehicle are quite low.
The interior of the car has much in common with that of the Formentor, too. Similarities extend as far as the steering wheel, the multimedia touch display, and the dashboard layout.
It is official that the car will come with a number of preinstalled driver aids, as well as an SAE Level 2 self-drive system and multiple communication systems. Mass production is planned for 2020.
The MEB automobile platform the el-Born is based upon is versatile and lends itself to different body styles and sizes. It places the traction battery at the bottom and the engine at the rear axle. Charging the battery is possible via rapid-charge stations, as well as your conventional AC socket.
