Spanish carmaker Seat will reveal the Tarraco PHEV, its first hybrid car ever, at the IAA 2019 starting in two weeks’ time. The seven-seat SUV will go on sale next year, and the pricing remains unannounced.
Powering the crossover vehicle is a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder TSI engine rated at 150 hp (112 kW), a 13 kWh battery and an electric motor with 116 hp (86 kW), which resides between the TSI and the transmission. The peak nominal output of the system amounts to 245 hp (183 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. WLTP-rated all-electric range is 50 kilometers (31 miles). Getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of 7.4 seconds, and the top speed is capped at 217 km/h (135 mph).
Along with its first plug-in hybrid, Seat will be unveiling a new option package for the standard Tarraco. Called the FR, it includes fender flares, a massive trunk-mounted rear wing and a new wheel set. It strips the SUV of all protective moldings and paints the entire body kit to match the primary color.
The Tarraco FR comes with a few cabin improvements as well, most notably a 9.2-inch multimedia display, sport front seats, a new climate control system, and a better overall trim.
