Fans of Cupra cars may now finally satisfy their curiosity with the first official photos of the high-performance Ateca SUV. Note how the manufacturer’s first off-road vehicle gets four exhaust pipes arranged in pairs.
The new Cupra Ateca takes advantage of the modular car platform known as the MQB – the same as the one found on the 2nd-generation VW Tiguan. To prevent it from being stuck with the unflattering nickname of ‘soft-roader’, the manufacturer gave it new, stronger brakes and sports-grade suspension.
There are rumors that the car may end up with a 2.0L turbo gasoline engine capable of something around 300 hp. We won’t know until it debuts at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, though.
Official shots of another performance car – the Cupra Ibiza – have recently been handed over to the media as well. The vehicle received a 2.0L turbocharged engine with ~200 hp.
