Spanish automaker Seat has refreshed its Leon compact lineup after four years of production. The exterior was kept exactly the same, so the only way you can tell the new version from the old one is by its optional Matrix LED headlights (if present).
Things look livelier inside, where the old 8.25-inch and 10-inch infotainment display options are no longer used. Instead, you get a larger 10.6-inch screen by default and can pay extra for a 12.9-inch one. The digital dashboard is 10.25 inches large and boasts a more modern UI. There are new haptic buttons under the central screen, and the console offers a 15W wireless phone charger.
The old 1.0-liter, three-cylinder TSI engine is gone, replaced with a superior 1.5-liter TSI unit delivering 115 PS (113 hp / 86 kW) to the wheels through a manual transmission. You can also obtain this engine as a part of a mild-hybrid powertrain rated at either 115 or 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). The electric starter added in these two versions requires a dual-clutch transmission – manual is not available.
The old diesels with 115 and 150 PS are still available, too, and there are two PHEVs both rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). The only difference between the two is in the all-electric range, which reaches 100 km (62 miles) in the top spec.
The production will begin in Barcelona, Spain later this month.
