Skoda puts a name on its new SUV

Czech car marque Skoda will be attending the 2019 Geneva Motor Show with the European version of its all-new mini-SUV, called Kamiq just like its Chinese counterpart.

In the Inuktitut language of the Inuit people, “Kamiq” means “an item that suits its owner perfectly”. This choice of name continues Skoda’s tradition of calling all of its crossover/SUV models something beginning with a K and ending with a Q.

The new utility vehicle will take advantage of the new MQB chassis, target people with active lifestyle and cost less than any other Skoda SUV currently on offer.

The manufacturer promises to ship the new Skoda Kamiq with high-end options and a whole range of safety-oriented features.

The Chinese version of the Kamiq uses the much older PQ25 chassis and comes equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine capable of 110 hp (82 kW). Transmission choices are limited to five-speed manual and six-speed automatic.
