Skoda has released the first batch of design sketches showing the upcoming European version of the Kamiq SUV. The vehicle will celebrate its live premiere at the Geneva show in March.
Based on the images thus far revealed, the car looks quite unlike its Chinese counterpart. The most notable differences include the front fascia, the headlights and the radiator grille, all of which bear a certain degree of resemblance to those of the Vision X Concept introduced a year ago.
The Europe-sold Skoda Kamiq will be assembled on the MQB-A0 modular chassis also used by the Volkswagen T-Cross. It is going to be about 4,200 mm (13.8 ft.) long and approximately 1,750 mm (7.75 ft.) wide.
Industry observers speculate that the car may ship with the same assortment of engines as the latest T-Cross. This includes two 3-cyl. gasoline units rated at 95 and 115 hp (71 and 86 kW, respectively), a 1.5-liter V4 rated at 150 hp (112 kW) and a diesel engine with 1.6 liters of displacement and 95 hp (71 kW). Transmission choices will be limited to 5-speed manual, 6-speed DCT and 7-speed DCT.
The car will also ship with a number of driver aids and features designed for optimum safety and comfort.
