Car manufacturer Skoda has released pretty much all there is to know about its upcoming mini-SUV, Kamiq. The car will launch in the autumn of 2019.
The new Skoda Kamiq has much in common with the Skoda Scala: the two are heavily standardized, share the same interior design and look very similar to each other. The Kamiq takes advantage of the MQB-A0 platform, has per-wheel rear suspension and comes strictly front-driven.
The car is 4,241 millimeters (13.9 ft.) long, 1,793 mm (5.9 ft.) wide and 1.531 mm (5 ft.) tall with 2,651 mm (8.7 ft.) between the axles.
The manufacturer promises a roomy interior (for a mini car, at least), a multimedia system available with 6.5”, 8.0” and 9.2” displays, and adjustable air vents for the rear passengers. If you need to frequently transport items that are large or just long, consider opting for a fold-back front passenger seat. Depending on the configuration, trunk volume varies between 400 and 1,395 liters.
Paid options include adaptive cruise control, LED lighting, sports suspension, a parking assist, a safety package, a digital dashboard with GPS support, and heating for the windshield, the steering wheel and the rear sofa.
The Skoda Kamiq will enter the market in Europe with a selection of four engines. These include two one-liter turbocharged engines rated at 95 hp (71 kW) and 115 hp (86 kW), accordingly, a 1.6-liter diesel with 115 hp (86 kW), and a high-end 1.5L turbo with 150 hp (112 kW). The 95hp engine will be available exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission, while all other versions will come with a choice between 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT.
Sales will begin in September. All prices will be announced later.
