Skoda restores one of its sportier exotics

Skoda has a rather glorious racing past with numerous victories claimed by its motorsports team over the years. To celebrate turning 120 this year, the Czech automaker has brought back to life one of its rarest vehicles, the 1100 OHC Coupe.

Only two such cars was built to participate in racing events in 1960-1962. Both were sold to private individuals later and totaled, but some parts were salvaged and have survived to these days with very little wear on them.

What you see here is the result of a complete restoration effort that started in 2015. Skoda Museum specialists took part in the project and managed to obtain the original technical documentation for the 1100 OHC, which simplified the process. The greatest challenge was to recreate the all-aluminum body of the original sports car. A team of designers used 2D blueprints to come up with a 3D model of the car body, which was then approved and put into production as a full-size model.
