Skoda pauses production in Kvasiny

The industrial complex of Skoda in Kvasiny, Czech Republic, has stopped operation for at least a week following reports of supply shortages from a third-party vendor stricken by a flood.

Specifically, Autonews Europe believes that the vendor in question is Slovakia-based KLS Ljubno, a major manufacturer of all kinds of gears and toothed wheels covering 80 percent of their combined market demand in Europe. With the recent flood wreaking havoc within the factory, KLS Ljubno said it only hoped to relaunch it in October – and then only partially.

The Kvasiny plant will be far from the only one to suffer the consequences: Skoda’s main factory in Mladá Boleslav is also at risk. Volkswagen Group is currently slowing down production and reducing work shifts at its other assembly sites as well, but there are no current plans to put any of them on idle.
