Skoda announces a Citigo replacement based on VW ID.1

Volkswagen AG has firm roots in the electric car market now with its ID.3 and ID.4 models, and the upcoming subcompact-sized ID.1 model should expand its presence further. This is why Skoda wants a piece of the same pie.

Skoda CEO Thomas Schäfer said in an interview that the company would take the ID.1 platform and build an all-new car based on it. Industry observers tend to believe it will replace the Citigo model featured in our gallery here.

However, with the impending launch of the Enyaq iV (see video) and another all-electric hatchback the company already has enough on its hands for the time being. As such, the Skoda subcompact will not debut until 2025. According to Schäfer, an all-electric sedan would follow it in the second half of the decade.
