Skoda unveils its roadmap until 2023

Skoda Auto CEO Thomas Schaefer has revealed the Czech marque’s plans for the next few years, including planned releases and market priorities.

The fourth generation of the compact-sized Fabia will debut in May in five-door hatchback and estate/wagon forms, despite earlier rumors that the wagon would yield its place to an SUV. Contrary to the modern trends, there will be no electric Fabia.

Despite this, an affordable Skoda EV will be coming to the market as well based on the MEB platform of the Enyaq SUV, which has been in production since November. Schaefer expressed hope that a battery production facility would open in the Czech Republic soon, leading to a reduction of EV making costs. However, VW Groups only has plans for building such factories in Sweden and Germany so far.

The Superb flagship will move into next generation in 2023 and go into production in Bratislava, Slovakia, freeing up the domestic assembly lines in Kvasiny for the Fabia Combi wagon.

As for the sales geography, Skoda intends to pay special attention to the markets of Russia, India, and North Africa.
