SUVs vs. Wagons: An Implausible Drag Race

Nowadays, perhaps the most engrossing drag races are those of the ‘weird and unpredictable’ kind. Just like this one.

Four vehicles line up before the start line: an Audi Q3, a Ford Focus ST Line, a Kia ProCeed GT and a Skoda Kodiaq RS. All four differ in terms of body geometry and engine power, three out of four have FWD while the remaining one has AWD, and there is a stick shift somewhere in between automatic transmissions.

Want a closer looks at the specs? The Kia ProCeed GT is a Shooting Brake type car that comes powered by a 1.6-liter engine rated at 201 hp (148 kW), linked to an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. The Skoda Kodiaq is a crossover SUV with 2.0-liters of engine displacement, 240 hp (179 kW), auto and AWD.

The Ford Focus ST Line packs a 1.5-liter engine boosted to deliver 182 hp (136 kW) to the front wheels by means of a manual gearbox. Finally, the Audi Q3 is a compact luxury crossover with 150 hp (112 kW) under its command. The drive is on the front axle, but the transmission is automatic.

Watch the video to see how it played out! You won’t regret it. Or read on for spoilers if you can’t for some reason.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS was the first to cross the finish line in 14.8 seconds, followed shortly by the Kia (14.9 s), then Ford (15.8 s), and ultimately the Audi Q3 (17 seconds).
