Originally, the Kodiaq is a brown bear species endemic to the namesake archipelago in southwestern Alaska. It is from them that the well-built, muscular and temperamental Skoda Kodiaq SUV borrows its name. But the problem with the bears is, they are naturally clumsy. Maybe this is why German aftermarket suspension manufacturer H&R decided to release a lowering spring kit for the Czech crossover SUV. Bear analogies may or may not work when advertising a car.
Once installed, the kit brings the center of gravity of the car closer to the ground, reducing rolling and improving cornering performance, especially at higher speeds. All 2.0-liter versions of the Kodiaq (both gasoline and diesel) benefit from a 30 mm (1.2”) reduction in ride height, while the 1.4 and 1.5-liter versions make do with 25 mm (1”).
H&R puts a €278 price tag on the full package. Separately available are Trak+ wheel spacers that can be used to increase the wheel span by between 6 and 60 millimeters (0.23” – 2.3”) on each side. The spacers begin at €45.
