Skoda Kodiaq gets a floating display in China

As evidenced by these patent shots and sketches, Skoda is getting ready to update the Chinese version of the Kodiaq. Compared to the EU spec shown in the video, the Chinese variant will have its own exterior styling as well as a seriously reworked cabin.

Based on the photos, the standard spec for that country will look similar to the RS spec sold in Europe: note the similar-looking radiator grille and bumpers offset by large amounts of chrome. The kick plates are also new.

The interior is where most of the novelty is going on, however, with a seriously revised center console and a large floating infotainment display looking around 12 inches large. A smaller HVAC control panel can also be seen. The steering wheel is new, and the dashboard sports horizontal air vents.

At 4,701 mm long with 2,791 mm of wheelbase, the 2022 Kodiaq for China is mere 3 millimeters (one-tenth of an inch) longer than its predecessor and otherwise identical in size. Customers will still be able to order it with the usual 2.0-liter turbo available in 186 and 220 PS variants. The transmission will be seven-speed DCT in both cases, but you can opt for AWD in the top spec.

Sales should begin in the first quarter of 2022.
