The Czech carmaker has released most of the technical specifications of the next-gen Kodiaq along with a bunch of photos. The updated SUV is 61 mm (2.4 inches) longer than its predecessor, boasts a completely new interior and runs 100 km (62 miles) on electricity alone in the top hybrid spec. The launch is expected in the fall.
The exact body dimensions are as follows: length – 4,758 mm (185.9 inches), width – 1,864 mm (72.8 in), height – 1,657 mm (64.7 in), wheelbase – 2,791 mm (109 in). The size increase along with a revised body shape enabled adding 15 mm (0.6 in) of headroom in the third row and expanding the trunk size to 910 liters (32.1 cubic feet).
Exterior novelty comes in the shape of next-generation Matrix headlights and wheels sized up to 20 inches in diameter. It is still unclear what will be new in the equipment department. The company did mention a 10.25-inch digital dashboard, a 12.9-inch infotainment unit and a heads-up display, but that’s about it. As evidenced by the photos, the transmission selector now resides on the steering column.
For the first time on record, the base spec will be hybrid. A 1.5-liter turbo engine will be assisted by an electric motor in an MHEV system capable of 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). Alternatives include a 2.0-liter petrol engine with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW), a 1.5-liter diesel with 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW), and a 2.0-liter diesel with 193 PS (190 hp / 142 kW). The transmission is seven-speed DCT regardless of the engine, and the 2.0L versions support all-wheel drive.
Rounding off the lineup is a PHEV modification based on a 1.5-liter turbo mated to a six-speed DCT and a single electric motor. This Kodiaq version will make do with 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and utilize a rechargeable 25.7-kWh battery rated at 100 km (62 mph) of all-electric range.
