Skoda launches the 2nd-gen Kodiaq

The second generation of the Skoda Kodiaq has arrived with revised looks, slightly tweaked body dimensions and new trim options on the list, as well as a PHEV version.

Like the first generation, the new Kodiaq utilizes Volkswagen’s MQB platform. At 4,758 mm long, 1,864 mm wide and 1,657 mm tall, it is 61 mm longer, but 18 mm slimmer and 17 mm less tall than its predecessor. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,791 mm. The trunk size has been increased by 75 liters for a total of 910 liters (32.14 cubic feet).

The profile view of the new Kodiaq makes it looks like a completely different car. The headlights and taillights remain in the same shape and position, but they are now linked with LED stripes at both ends, resulting in a very different look from before.

Inside, the multimedia display has grown to 13 inches of diagonal size, and the digital dashboard has grown to 10 inches. Both are now included in the base trim level. The gear selector has been moved to the steering column, and the wireless charger has been modified to offer two charging slots with ventilation.

The new plug-in hybrid version of the Kodiaq uses a 1.5-liter TSI engine in conjunction with a single electric motor for a combined 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). A 25.7-kWh traction battery gives this version 100 kilometers (62 miles) of all-electric driving range.

Other options include mild hybrids rated at 150 and 204 PS (148 and 201 hp; 110 and 150 kW, respectively), as well as diesels capable of 150 and 193 PS (148 and 190 hp; 110 and 142 kW).
