Skoda Kushaq hits assembly lines in India

Skoda Auto has started the production of its smallest crossover SUV on the lineup: the Kushaq. India will be the first country to receive it, so the production is localized in Pune so far, and all cars made are right-hand-drive only. Other markets will have to wait until later.

The Kushaq debuted around three months ago as a new take on the Volkswagen Taigun, which in turn is a RHD variant of the T-Cross model that entered production in Spain, China and Brazil in 2018. Compared to all these, the Skoda Kushaq sports its own front and rear styling, while the sides look familiar.

Customers can choose from two gasoline turbos, a 1.0-liter one good for 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) and a 1.5-liter one capable of 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). Six-speed manual transmission is the default one, but you can go automatic with the 1.0-liter engine or 7-range DCT with the 1.5-liter one. The drive will stay on two wheels no matter what.

Prices range from 10 to 16 Rs Lakh.
