Skoda has posted the first image of a completely new crossover utility vehicle designed for the Indian market. It still doesn’t have a name, but should become the company’s most affordable car in India when it goes on sale next year.
Skoda already has two production vehicles on that market, the Slavia and the Kushaq (see the gallery and the video). Both run on an entry-level car architecture known as the MQB A0-IN. The still-nameless newcomer will most likely utilize the same architecture, but be even smaller than its cousins at under 4 meters (13.1 ft.) long.
Vehicles under 4 meters long enjoy certain tax benefits in India, so it can be expected to cost very little on the local market. For the drivetrain, it will most likely get a couple of 1.0-liter engine options with a manual and a dual-clutch transmission.
On a side note, it’s not like the model name is being kept secret. Rather, Skoda is running a poll in India right now so that the customers could vote for a name they like. The short list comprises seven names such as Kariq, KwIQ, Kylaq, Kymaq, Kyroq, and so on.
