Following a slew of technicalities about its next Octavia, Skoda has hinted at the release timeframe of its ‘off-road’ and ‘performance’ modifications.
Both the Skoda Octavia Scout and the Octavia RS will reach the showrooms next year. As usual, the former will be based on the Octavia Combi estate/wagon body, but boast a higher ground clearance and a body kit. As for the AWD system and DSG transmission, which are currently optional for the model, these may become standard features for the Scout.
In turn, the RS will likely source its engine from the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which will also grace the market with its presence in 2020. The hot hatch will pack 290 hp (216 kW) in its top GTI TCR implementation; how much power the RS will have remains unknown.
Like its German relative, the Czech liftback will likely get several performance versions instead of just one. Possible candidates include the diesel-powered Octavia RS TDI (200 hp / 150 kW), since the analogous Golf GTD has already been greenlit for production.
