Skoda’s first Octavia hybrid will be exhibited at the Geneva IMS 2020 for everyone to see. The specs have already been revealed along with plenty of spy photos, but the carmaker wants us to pretend we haven’t seen the new Octavia yet.
The video, which strives to be as suspenseful as possible, flashes such details as the aerodynamic kit with black accents, the wheels, the sports seats, the steering wheel, the pedals and the charging port.
The Octavia RS iV will share its powertrain with the newest Volkswagen Golf GTE and Cupra Leon PHEV. In practice, this means a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor joining efforts for 245 hp (183 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. A 13-kWh battery gives it up to 55 kilometers (34 miles) of range, while the Golf and the Leon get 5 km (3 mi) more thanks to their lower weight. Six-speed DCT is the only transmission type available.
Simultaneously with the Octavia RS iV, Skoda will reveal the lower-specced Octavia iV Hybrid. The latter will get the same tech as the VW Golf eHybrid and produce 204 hp (152 kW) along with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
