Skoda Octavia steps up for civil duty in Great Britain

The United Kingdom already employs the services of the Skoda Kodiaq, Scala and Superb, and the latest Octavia RS will be joining them soon with a handful of police-oriented improvements.

The performance liftback gains blinker lights, a three-tone police siren and special beacons concealed behind the windows and in the radiator grille. Skoda will be offering it will such paid options as traffic sign-reading cameras, air conditioned dog kennels, and other law enforcement-friendly features.

The standard equipment list is quite liberal as is, including LED Matric headlights, a digital dashboard, a 10-inch infotainment display, heated seats, parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

Powering the new RS generation is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW), which links to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of 6.7 seconds.
