In earlier news, we reported that Skoda provided the police in Great Britain with custom-made Octavia vRS iV hybrid cars. The cooperation did not end there, however: the country’s firefighting brigades and ambulance services are next on the list to get new Octavia iV and Superb iV.
The Octavia iV has 69 kilometers (43 miles) of all-electric range and consumes very little gas in hybrid mode. The Superb iV packs the same powertrain, and while its all-electric range is smaller at 59 km (36 miles), its combined range is greater at 930 km (578 miles). Both pack everything necessary for their envisioned applications.
The Octavia vRS iV we reported on before had a 1.4-liter gas turbo engine and an electric motor joining efforts for 245 hp (183 kW) total. It could reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in seven seconds flat and cover up to 62 km (38.5 miles) on battery alone.
