It is safe to say that the latest generation of the Skoda Octavia has been experiencing difficulties all along – recall campaigns, then Covid-19 and microchip shortages – culminating in poor sales. Well, it looks like the company intends to remedy the situation with a mid-life refresh.
The first bath of spy photos made so far is a bit disappointing, because there is nothing new in view. Both the liftback and the estate were sighted in Austria during their road tests. Both had their front and rear ends covered up, and otherwise looked identical to their pre-facelift versions.
Since it was apparently a towing capacity test, the cars can be seen riding lower than usual. The liftback also sports RS-style brake calipers. An engine range refresh is also high on our list of expectations, because stricter environmental laws are right behind the corner.
