At a presentation event dedicated to the Vision 7S Concept (in the gallery and the video below), Skoda has talked about the impending changes in its product range and design. As it turns out, the company plans to launch next-gen Kodiaq and Superb, update the Octavia and redesign the logo.
In the next five years, the Czech carmaker intends to invest substantial funds into electrification. This includes €5.6 billion going into designing new electric cars and the relevant tech, plus at least €700 million into digitalization. By the beginning of the next decade, Skoda hopes that 70 percent of its total cars sold in Europe will be EVs.
With that in mind, the company is still dedicated to developing its current range of vehicles. It is official now that both the Kodiaq and the Superb will transition into their next generations in the second half of 2023. The latest-gen Octavia, which debuted three years ago, will undergo a mid-life refresh in 2024. No details have been provided so far.
Starting from 2024, all new Skoda cars will get a new, modern, flat-looking badge. It will consist of the name of the brand spelled out with a check mark above the letter S. The authors of the redesign believe it will help make the logo internationally recognizable.
The new identity will find active use on new cars, with the old circle-and-arrow logo soon to be replaced with the company name.
Finally, the electric car lineup will inevitably expand, too. The Vision 7S Concept will ultimately give birth to a large production SUV running on battery power, followed by another, smaller SUV and a compact city car. All three new EVs are slated to come out within the next four years.
