The Austria-based division of Skoda has set an unusual experiment to see whether a martial artist can catch a flying arrow while speeding in the car going in the same direction.
The company invited professional archer Laurence Baldauff and martial arts instructor Markus Haas for the task. Laurence was to fire an arrow so that it would end up flying right next to the speeding Skoda Octavia Combi RS. Markus was to accelerate to 215 km/h (134 mph) and then attempt to catch the arrow within a 0.5s time window.
See the video for the outcome.
The Skoda Octavia Combi RS is a performance estate car that comes driven by a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine capable of 245 hp (183 kW) and either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. The car needs 6.5 seconds to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph).
