Skoda Superb new pics, premiere date released

The facelifted Skoda Superb liftback will debut at the upcoming 2019 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship in Slovakia, the manufacturer revealed a week ago. Many of us thought back then that the premiere would be held on the opening day of the event, i.e. May 10th. Skoda amended its initial press release hours ago, however, saying that the reveal won’t happen until May 23rd. It also released a few more designer sketches of the car to keep us interested.

That said, chances are good you have already seen what the Skoda Superb facelift looks like when the company uploaded its photos to the Chinese Ministry of Industry in early 2019. Unless there are some last-minute changes, the entire facelift seems to boil down to new bumpers, headlights, radiator grille, and a chrome streak running between the taillights.

Just what the cabin of the new Superb looks like remains unknown. Our bet is on the same old design and layout.

Nothing exciting should happen in the engine lineup, too. The facelift might bring along a revised, more powerful version of the same engine, but that is about all. The current Skoda Superb ships in Europe with an assortment of gasoline engines ranging from 150 to 272 hp (112 – 203 kW) and diesel ones rated between 120 and 190 kW (90 – 142 kW). Perhaps the only major bit of novelty comes in the form of the Superb Plug-In Hybrid, the first electrified vehicle from Skoda. It will come packing a gasoline engine with 150 hp (112 kW) and an electric motor adding 95 hp (71 kW) of its own, and will be good for up to 70 kilometers (43 miles) of all-electric range.
