The German company will present the car of the future
at the Frankfurt Motor Show - the conceptual prototype Vision EQ Fortwo. The
car is unique in that it will receive a fifth-level automatic control system.
The novelty lacks the usual parts of external control.
There is no steering wheel, pedals and gearbox in the interior. Moving on such
a car is carried out with the help of voice commands or smartphone.
Recall, according to the classification of the
Community of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the system of autonomous management of
the "fifth level" assumes that the vehicle can move absolutely
independently without any assistance from the driver.
Smart Vision EQ Fortwo received an electric motor on
the rear axle and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 30 kilowatt-hours.
On one charge the electric car will be able to travel about 300 kilometers.
And, when the battery charge is low, the car will go to "refuel"
independently. Charging will be carried out with the help of an induction
system - without wires, in an autonomous mode.
The manufacturer plans that such an electromobile
perfectly fits into the system of the carcher, which popularity will increase
significantly by 2025. Using short-term car rent will significantly reduce the
number of cars on the roads.
