The Smart Forease Concept debuted at the last year’s Paris Motor Show as an all-electric vehicle without windows or any kind of roof. Many wondered back then just whether the car would be usable in bad weather at all. The manufacturer will address this issue by bringing an improved version of the car to the upcoming Geneva show. Called the Smart Forease+, it now sports a removable hardtop.
The roof is made of plastic wrapped in orange fabric. You can easily install or remove it using dedicated sockets found in the car rear. Additional clamps located on the windshield frame should be used for a more reliable mount. The principle is so simple, the manufacturer claims, that anyone can do it alone in a matter of seconds.
The company now emphasizes that you can use the EV in any weather, but this remains a bit of a moot point, as it is still missing any kind of side windows.
Compared to the original Smart Forease Concept, the Plus version also sports a contrast-rich exterior design and new ornamental parts.
Its interior houses seats draped with genuine Nappa leather, fine cloth, and microfiber.
From the technical point of view, the concept car uses the same chassis as the mass-issue smart EQ fortwo. It comes equipped with an electric motor rated at 82 hp (61 mph) and can travel up to 160 kilometers (100 miles) prior to needing a recharge. As a design study, the show car exists in a single copy and will never make it into actual production.
