Smart #3 bows in Europe

Following a premiere in China, automaker Smart has brought the European version of its #3 EV to the Munich expo. The car will be available in a special edition called 25th Anniversary, celebrating the Smart model tuning a quarter of a century old.

At 4.4 meters (172 inches) long with 2,785 mm (108.8 inches) of wheelbase, it is the marque’s biggest vehicle on record. Aside form the main model, buyers will be able to treat themselves to a powered-up Brabus version.

In its main spec, the Smart #3 utilizes a single 272-PS (268-hp / 200-kW) motor on the rear axle and sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.8 seconds. The Brabus spec benefits from two motors arranged one per axle and a total of 428 PS (422 hp / 315 kW). It is much faster on the uptake, hitting 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds from standstill.

A 66-kWh traction battery is the same across all versions and yields 415–455 km (258–283 miles) of range depending on the conditions.

The optional 25th Anniversary trim package adds exterior accents and maxed out the equipment list. It is available exclusively in white with orange accents and 19-inch black wheels. The infotainment system gets two displays sized 9.2 and 12.8 inches large, the whole interior comes wrapped in leather, and the driver gets a HUD. A panoramic sunroof and a 13-channel Bose audio system round off the list.

Sales in Germany will begin in late 2023 with the base price at €43,490.
