Smart has shared a video teaser previewing its new concept car heading to the Munich show. Co-designed by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, the prototype will eventually become the marque’s largest vehicle on record.
The video focuses on individual elements, such as a solid fake grille illuminated with plentiful LEDs, and headlights connected with a light strip. The name of the concept remains unannounced.
Earlier teasers prompt an assumption that the car is a five-seat crossover SUV comparable to the Mini Countryman in terms of dimensions. It should also be closer to a design study than a prototype, which means it will probably showcase Smart’s latest design philosophy along with cutting-edge tech. It should prove to be lighter, more luxurious, more fashion-conscious and smarter than all Smarts before it.
As for the tech, there is an opinion that the car is an EV based on a Geely platform. there is no production-related info yet, but we expect it to hit the assembly lines in China next year.
Smart will unveil the design study online on September 5.
