Smart showed its all-electric crossover SUV named simply the Number One (#1) at the IAA Munich show last year, and now, its final production version has debuted on official terms.
The Smart #1 will be sold in Europe and China, but all prices remain to be announced. Co-designed between Mercedes and Geely, it is 4,270 mm (166.8 inches) long, 1,822 mm (71.2 inches) wide and 1,636 mm (63.9 inches) tall with 2,750 mm (107.4 inches) of wheelbase. The exterior design mimics the Munich concept car with some notable differences, like the front bumper, the side mirrors, and the doors, which no longer open backwards. Modest-looking 19-inch wheel rims sit in the arches instead of the 21-inch rollers the concept had.
The interior is also close to what we saw in Munich. There is a 12.8-inch multimedia display, a digital dashboard three inches smaller, a three-spoke steering wheel and a tall console separating the front seats.
A single electric motor drives the rear axle with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) of torque. A single battery charge lasts for around 440 km (243 miles). The top speed is electronically capped at 180 km/h (112 mph).
