Smart #2 EV Debuts at Paris Motor Show

Smart has unveiled the all-new #2 electric vehicle at the Paris Motor Show. This two-seater EV measures 2,746 mm (108.1 in) in length and is built on a Geely architecture. It offers a reported range of 180 miles.

The #2 is considered a successor to the Fortwo, which was discontinued in 2024. The production version of the EV debuted six months after the Smart Concept #2. Its visual design is an evolution of the Fortwo, with modern details that are less pronounced than those on the concept car. Design changes include revised headlight graphics, round taillights, smaller alloy wheels, conventional door handles, and simplified bumpers. The hood's shut line has been moved higher, and the front bumper's side intakes lack pixel screens. Other features include a body-colored mesh grille, a floating roof, frameless windows, and a traditional split tailgate.

The Smart #2 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 81 hp (60 kW / 82 PS) and 130 Nm (95.9 lb-ft) of torque. A 35.8 kWh LFP battery pack provides a WLTP range of 290 km (180 miles). The battery supports 65 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in 20 minutes, and is compatible with V2L technology. The vehicle also features a new version of the Tridion Cell Evo structure and various advanced driver-assistance systems.

Inside, the #2 has a dashboard with round climate vents, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a three-spoke steering wheel with integrated buttons. The cabin is described as spacious and practical, with bench-style seats and a cargo capacity of 305 liters (10.8 cubic feet). Equipment levels are generous, particularly in the Premium trim, which includes a glass roof, heated seats, faux leather upholstery, and a seven-speaker Sennheiser Sound System. A limited-edition #2 Couture Edition, with specific design elements, will be available in Europe.
