Brabus to unveil world’s first power-tuned EV at the Geneva show

Brabus will definitely cause quite a stir at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show when it arrives there with what is likely the word’s first performance-tuned all-electric car.

The vehicle is called BRABUS Ultimate E Shadow Edition „1 of 28“, and will emerge in a series of 28 units.

The base for the conversion is a smart fortwo EQ, a city car that comes with a single three-phase synchronous engine mounted on the rear axle. In its production version, it only outputs up to 82 hp (61 kW) and 160 Nm (118 lbft) of torque. Once tuned, it gains an additional 10 hp (7.5 kW) along with 20 Nm (14.8 lbft) of torque. As a result, it accelerates 0-100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and ultimately hits 130 km/h (81 mph). You may still drive it for around 125 kilometers (78 miles) before a recharge becomes necessary.

The car proudly dons the BRABUS Ultimate body kit usually reserved for the tuner’s most extravagant and expensive releases. There is a custom front spoiler, side skirts and a diffusor. All parts have been tested in the wind tunnel for maximum efficiency.

No less noteworthy is a set of new 18-inch BRABUS Monoblock Y wheels wrapped in performance tires and sitting in larger wheel arches. 18-inchers could be called moderately large on many other cars, but they look downright massive on a two-door subcompact vehicle. Despite this, each front wheel weighs only 6.7 kilos (14.8 lb.) and each rear one only 7.1 kg (15.6 lb.).

The interior of the car boasts an opulence of expensive red leather, Brabus’ trademark Silvertex upholstery and dozens upon dozens of visual carbon inserts.
