Smart unveils its 2020 fortwo & forfour EVs

Smart has taken the wraps off of the restyled EQ ForTwo hatchback and convertible, as well as the new EQ ForFour. Let us see what the planned update brings.

Neither of the cars exhibit any major design changes. You can tell them apart by the size of the fake grille, the front apron design and the shape of the anti-fog lights. The LED-only, three-section headlights are also new, and so are the LED brake lights with their 3D effect.

Smart never revealed the cabin, but mentioned that the center console had been completely reworked, receiving a dedicated niche for a large smartphone. The multimedia system with its 8-inch display is also new and supports wireless updates.

Both the Smart EQ fortwo and the forfour take 4.8 seconds to get from zero to 60 km/h (37.3 mph), courtesy of a single electric engine rated at 82 hp (61 kW) and 160 Nm (118 pound-feet) of torque. The battery capacity amounts to 17.6 kilowatt-hours, translating into 160 kilometers (100 miles) of NEDC-rated range.
