After nearly a decade of development and testing, SSC North America finally pieced together the first out of the 100 planned Tuatara hypercars three months ago. You can now watch it zap like a crossbow bolt through a test track.
The super sports coupe comes powered by a 5.9-liter V8 engine installed mid-chassis, which produces 1,350 hp (1,007 kW) with gasoline for fuel. Pour E85 in instead, and you are looking forward to a whopping 1,750 hp (1,305 kW). A seven-speed semi-auto transmission drives the rear axle, enabling acceleration past 300 miles per hour (483 km/h). The car weighs in at 1,247 kilograms (2,750 lbs); its sprint times remain unannounced.
Each SSC Tuatara comes priced between $1.6 and $1.9 million in the United States.
