Travis Pastrana’s Subaru GL presents paper specs ahead of Goodwood debut

Subaru, Hoonigan and Travis Pastrana have recently unveiled a heavily modded 1983 Subaru GL wagon without mentioning any of its specifications. Now, the car has finally got a more detailed introduction before its appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week.

The restomod utilizes a flat-four engine boosted to insane 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) in tandem with a six-speed sequential gearbox and AWD. The bodywork is all-carbon and mounted on top of a modern tubular space-frame.

Active aerodynamics is one of the killer features of the build, the tuners say. The term refers to the large rear wing, hydraulic winglets at both ends, and special roof rails that help direct more air into NACA openings in the roof.

Such details as 1980s-style wheel rims, an authentic radio station in the cabin and blue plastic dashboard trim are all meant to make you feel nostalgic. In fact, the original GL wagon had the same blue plastic trim on its gauge cluster. The restomod has a digital dash, but the gauges on the UI are period-accurate.
