California Department of Transportation allowed Subaru company to test its autonomous vehicles on state roads. The application was made by the Japanese on February 9, 2017, and after its consideration, Californian authorities issued a positive decision. Order procurement was only the question of time for Subaru, as now self-driving cars of 22 different companies are successfully tested in the territory of the state , where there is a simplified system of registration of autonomous vehicles.
At present, several models of Subaru company are equipped with Eyesight system. It provides the movement of the car without participation of the driver to the speed of 40 km/h. Japanese engineers will develop the system, and in the closest plans of Japanese is to implement unmanned technologies in cars for independent movement in close city conditions. By 2020 Subaru plans to develop the autopilot which will undertake steering of car on abrupt turns and bends.
