Car manufacturer Subaru will recall and destroy 293 Ascent SUVs due to the lack of welded seams on the B-pillars. Apparently, the defect cannot be fixed in a normal way.
According to media reports, only nine cars have been shipped to their owners so far. The rest are still sitting in the warehouses of authorized dealers.
The Japanese company sent a letter to the NHTSA confirming that all cars will be replaced with new ones, and that all the defective ones will be scrapped. The company will also halt further sales until it thoroughly inspects all other Ascent vehicles produced so far. Looks like the clients will have to wait.
