Subaru has shared the first teaser pic of its second-generation BRZ coupe along with a promise to reveal it later this fall.
The pic only shows a wheel and a fender with sporty air vents. The car had originally been slated to premiere along with the same-platform Toyota GT86 at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2020, but the show was canceled. The first-generation BRZ (see video) went out of production this summer.
No further details have been provided so far. One theory states that the car will ship with a 2.4-liter engine rated at 220 hp (164 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. This would make it mere 15 hp and 35 Nm superior to its predecessor, which is very little given its larger dimensions and weight. Then again, this is mere speculation at this point. Transmission-wise, a new automatic gearbox might enter the lineup alongside the old six-speed manual.
Toyota claims that its new GT86 would handle better than the A90 Supra, so the same should apply to its sibling, the Subaru BRZ.
